Asuncion Morris

April 18, 1924 — October 27, 2016

Asuncion Soledad Morris, more affectionately known as "Nanny", went peacefully to be with her heavenly Father and loved ones on Thursday, October 27, 2016, in the comfort of her home at the age of 92, surrounded by her family. \r\n \r\nAsuncion was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on April 18, 1924, to Angel and Celia Garza. She was one of 11 children. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Morris, Sr., and her daughter, Loretta Lucia as well as her parents and many siblings.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her two sisters, Nena Bustamante and Magdalena Herrera. Those also left to honor and cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Toni and David Wahrmund, Celina and Larry Monks, Asu and Gary McClung, and Jim and Kathy Morris. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.\r\n \r\nAsuncion grew up in Eagle Pass, Texas and worked as a secretary until she met the love of her life, Jim Morris, Sr. They married in August of 1958 and a year later moved to Houston, Texas. She then became a devoted housewife and mother to five children, Iva Asuncion, Antoinette (Toni) Clarissa, James Jr., Loretta Lucia, and Celina Bird.\r\n \r\nAsuncion was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, Texas. Her never ending devotion to her faith, that she carried throughout her life, has been what has sustained her up until the day she was rewarded her place in Heaven and reunited with her loved ones.\r\n \r\nShe was a sweet, kind and compassionate woman. She was devoted to God and her Catholic faith, to her husband and to her family. During her life she made many sacrifices so that others might have. When in pain, whether physically or of the heart emotionally, she never complained and silently offered it up to God.\r\n \r\nShe loved to spend time with her sisters and family and enjoyed playing cards and going to Las Vegas or the casino in Eagle Pass with her sisters, daughter and nieces.\r\n \r\nAlthough a quiet woman and not one of many words, her special gift was that of deep prayer. She prayed for all in need and daily prayed the rosary with her husband, Jim. After his death three years ago, she continued praying the rosary even twice daily. She also held a very strong devotion to the Divine Mercy. She was and will always be a shining example to us of a faithful servant of God. "Eternal rest grant unto her, oh Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace."\r\n \r\nRosary will be at 6:30 pm, Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. The Resurrection Mass will be at 1 pm, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Monsignor Mike Boulette as celebrant. The burial will be at a later date.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Notre Dame Catholic School, Our Lady of the Hills Regional Catholic High School or Peterson Hospice.\r\n \r\nThe family wishes to express our sincere thanks to her many doctors and Peterson Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.\r\n
