Anton "Tony" Ben Schonhoeft passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Kerrville, TX at the age of 81 years. Tony was born January 11, 1938 in Petronila, TX to Theresa Buckholt Schonhoeft and Joe Schonhoeft. He was raised in Violet, TX on the family farm and graduated from St. John's High School in Robstown, TX. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. \r\n\r\nTony was united in marriage to Evie Beatrice McFatridge on September 7, 1963 in Portland, TX. They were married 56 years, 54 of which were lived in Ingleside, TX. He worked for Sherwin Alumina for 40 years, from which he retired in 1998. This past year has been spent in Kerrville, TX. They have two children, Lori Smith and Ross Schonhoeft. \r\n\r\nTony was a proud member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside, TX. The church was an integral part of his life, which he helped build in partnership with his wife, Bea, and other founding members. He also enjoyed supporting his community in multiple ways. He was a 4-H leader for woodworking classes, a volunteer fire fighter and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, in addition to his church contributions. Tony loved ranching, was a master gardener, and an avid wood worker. He also enjoyed creating stained glass projects, many of which were donated to community events and fundraisers. He had an overall joy for life and was often the "jokester" with family and friends. We will miss his jokes, good humor, and Reynolds work stories.\r\n \r\nWhile Tony was involved in the community, he always put his family first, and often shared his hobbies and experiences with his children and grandchildren. Through these gifts that he has given us he will continue to live on with us eternally.\r\n\r\nTony was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Joe Schonhoeft; brothers, Henry Schonhoeft and wife Sandra, and Frank Schonhoeft and wife, Mary Beth; sisters, Katherine Hoelscher and Agnes Marion.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Bea; daughter, Lori Smith and husband Lonnie; son, Ross Schonhoeft and wife Annette; sister, Annie Schonhoeft; brothers in law, Sylvester Hoelscher and Charles Marion; grandchildren, Benjamin McIntyre, Joshua Smith, Hayden Schonhoeft, Ashley Lewis and husband Allen, Kelsey Kuehler, Brooke Kuehler, and Matthew Kuehler; his great-grandchildren, Christopher Kuehler, Caiden Lewis, and Brantley Lewis; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and many treasured friends.\r\n\r\nTony was truly loved by all and will be eternally treasured in all our hearts. \r\n\r\nThe family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with interment at Bandera Cemetery.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Peterson Hospice, especially Debbie, Micah, and Reverend Susan.
