Anton Haner

Anton Haner, age 90 passed away in a Bandera care facility November 10, 2017. He had been a resident of Tarpley, Texas since 1980 and prior to that a life resident of San Antonio.\r\n\r\nAnton was born August 10, 1927 in Bexar County to Lillian Anita Wander Haner and Anton Adolph Bronson Haner. As an infant he was baptized, and later in his youth was confirmed in his faith at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, Texas. He married Marilyn Tatsch on March 25, 1950 at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in San Antonio. He served his country honorably from 1952 to 1954 in the U.S. Marine Corps.\r\n\r\nHe started his career in the auto business at Milam Chevrolet as shop foreman, then Ancira Winton before moving to Gunn Oldsmobile where he was promoted to service manager. From 1970 to 1981 the Haners owned the Texaco service station at Bandera Road and Cheryl Drive.\r\n\r\nAnton was very active with the Bandera County Farm Bureau serving twice as president and served six years as state director. He was also active with the Tarpley VFD serving as Chief and President, as well as serving as a certified EMT for Bandera County.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 67 years, Marilyn; son Doyle Haner and wife Elizabeth; daughter Judy Pace and husband Tom all of Tarpley, Texas; brother Jerome Haner and wife Barbara of Helotes; grandchildren, Corey Soderstrom and husband, Tim, Eric Haner,Willie Johnson, Holly Haner, Shawn Hamilton and wife, Lori and Michael Hamilton and husband, Julio; great grandchildren, Sam Hamilton, Camden Soderstrom and Penny Hamilton.\r\n\r\nThe family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday November 14, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera. \r\n\r\nA Funeral will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera with Rev. Dick Sisk officiating. Interment to follow at Tarpley Cemetery.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
