After a long and happy life, Anne died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Kerrville, Texas on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born in Marshall, Texas on December 31, 1934, grew up in Greenville, Texas and moved with her family to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1951. \r\n \r\nAfter graduating from W.B. Ray High School in 1953, she attended the University of Texas in Austin, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1956. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and in Corpus Christi, she was a member of the Order of De Pineda, Cotillion Clubs, Junior League, Las Donas de la Corte, Antiques and Flowers Garden Club and the Jenette Hammer Guild at the Church of the Good Shepherd. \r\n \r\nAnne was a devoted mother, grandmother and best friend. She loved so many friends and shared an enthusiasm for all of their families. Her family meant the world to her and she celebrated every great achievement, camping experience and holiday surrounded by them. \r\n \r\nShe is survived by her son, Robert Hamilton Montgomery, III of College Station; her daughter, Mimi and husband Allen Willis Smith of Austin; her precious granddaughters, Hallie and Elizabeth Smith; her sister, Mary Barden Worrell; and many Attwell first cousins. Anne is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leonard L. Attwell; and our beloved Reverend Rhoda Swanner Montgomery, Rob's wife. \r\n \r\nA private family burial will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, at the Attwell plot, on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. with the Right Reverend Andrew C.
