Ann Marie Mahon was born in Edinburg, Texas on August 12, 1933 to Edward Lamar Mahon, Sr. and Leatha May Musgrave Mahon. She passed away peacefully on November 12, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas.\r\n \r\nShe grew up in Kerrville, Texas and graduated from Tivy High School in 1951. One of Ann's many favorite activities was attending Camp Mystic as a camper and counselor. Ann attended Texas Woman's University in Denton and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1955. \r\n \r\nShe then pursued a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Texas, Austin and was awarded that degree in 1960. \r\n \r\nAnn taught school in Tyler, Texas from 1955-57. In 1958, she moved to Andrews, Texas and taught there until 1968. She finished her educational career in New Braunfels, Texas as a high school counselor from 1968-1989.\r\n \r\nUpon retirement, she moved back to Kerrville into the family home. She resumed friendships with many high school classmates and others still residing in Kerrville. She was affectionately known as Annie by her dearest friends. Ann enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, making greeting cards from pressed wild flowers, and supporting the local animal shelter. She became an active member in the Anglican Church. Ann moved to San Antonio in 2012 to be closer to family until the time of her death.\r\n \r\nAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Lamar and Betty Mahon, Dixon and Eileen Mahon and Everitt and Helen Mahon; also, two loving nephews, Scott Mahon and Chris Mahon and 5 dearly beloved pets, Jimmy, Prissy, Miss Kitty, Shortie and Crickett. \r\n \r\nShe is survived by six nieces and two nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nMemorial services are pending with Grimes Funeral Chapels. \r\n \r\nMemorial gifts may be made to Helotes Humane Society at hhsanimals.org or the humane society, animal shelter or charity of your choice. \r\n \r\n
