Ammie Rose Garrett Salter, age 96, of Kerrville, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in San Antonio. She was born on April 3, 1921 in Dumont, Texas to Roy and Rosita Holdsworth Hollar. \r\n \r\nShe was attending college in Abilene at McMurry when she met her future husband, as she was taking a pilot training course, and he was a U.S. Army Air Corps Flight Instructor. On May 10, 1941, she married Julian Oliver Garrett in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He passed away in 1981. In 1984, she married Forrest Salter, who passed away in 1994. \r\n \r\nAmmie is survived by her son, Jim Garrett, a rancher in Texas and New Mexico. \r\n \r\nA graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Glen Rest Cemetery.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Blackhills Wild Horse Sanctuary, P.O.
