ALTA MAE RHINES, 91, of Boerne, TX, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 10, 2015. She was born inWoodward, TX to James Porter and Ida Ophelia Ferguson on Saturday, February 23, 1924. Shemarried Glenn Wilson Rhines on September 7, 1946 in San Antonio, TX.\r\n\r\nAlta received her bachelor's degree from Mary Hardin Baylor University, Belton, TX.After graduation she taught home economics in Rogers, TX and taught sewing classes for Singer Company. She taught at West Junior High School while her husband attended Baylor University, Waco, TX. While serving as a pastor's wife in Dutch Flat, California she also worked with her husband, piloting wide-loads across Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Upon moving back to Texas, she taught at Thunderbird Hills Elementary School and served as a librarian at John Glenn Elementary School and Lackland City Elementary School.\r\n\r\nAlta also served as a pastor's wife in Tarpley, TX. Throughout her life she taught Sunday School classes, served in the Women's Missionary Union, worked with her husband in Canada through the Mission Service Corps, taught Master Life classes at the Hondo, TX federal prison, and worked at Alto Frio Baptist Encampment. \r\n\r\nAlta Mae Rhines was preceded in death by her parents, James Porter Ferguson and Ida Ophelia Ferguson and husband Glenn Wilson Rhines.\r\n\r\nAlta Mae Rhines is survived by her two sisters, Lynna Webb and Lois Easley; Children, Glenn Rhines and wife, Denece, Cynthia Johnston and husband Reed, Archie Rhines and wife Cora; Grandchildren, Todd Rhines and wife Shawna, Jason Rhines and wife Jennifer,Melissa Perlinger and husband Stacy, Nicole Rogers and husband Brian, Laura Hines, Jeff Rhines and wife, April, Sherry Hamons and husband Brian, and Julie Johnston; Great-grandchildren, Austin and Logan Rhines, Taylor and Caleb Rhines,Pearce, Presley, Parker and Paityn Perlinger, Michael Charske and Jacob Rogers,Lilyand Luke Rhines and Abigail, Gavin, Gage, and Savannah Hamons; Great-great-grandchild, Chloe Grace Rhines and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 631 S. School St., Boerne, TX 78006.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2015at First Baptist Church, 631 S. School St., Boerne, TX 78006, with Pastor Charles Easley officiating. \r\n\r\nBurial will follow at Waresville Cemetery, Utopia, TX with Pastor Charles Easley officiating. \r\n\r\nRefreshments will follow at First Baptist Church, Utopia, TX.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be Todd Rhines, Jason Rhines, Austin Rhines, Jeff Rhines, Michael Charske, Brian Rogers, Aaron Burrell and Lincoln Moore.\r\n\r\nThe Rhines family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Liam Fry, Margaret Rocha, RN, Kenya Lolis, RN, Ashley, Hanna, Corrine and numerous others at Hearthstone Health and Rehabilitation, Round Rock, TX;Dr. Matlock, MD, Mark Westerfield, Sr. Pastor, Central Baptist ChurchRound Rock, TX; Shannon Miller and Paul De Luna at First Baptist Church, Boerne, Lois Easley, membersat First Baptist Church, Utopia, and Lynna Webb for all her hospitality.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, you may donate to the missionary organization or church of your choice.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
