Allin Mitchell Jr.

November 15, 1944 — December 21, 2015

Sidney Allin Mitchell Jr., whose outspokenness and charisma made him a dynamic figure on golf courses throughout his life, died on Monday, December 21, 2015 in Kerrville, TX at the age of 71. Allin's humor and outgoing personality made him an integral part of tee times and 19th Hole social circles. He was a beloved grandfather, father, and entrepreneur that will be remembered for his stalwart determination and impassioned views.\r\n \r\nAllin was born in Galveston, TX and raised in Houston with his younger sister Mary Jane by his parents Sidney and Evelyn Mitchell. Upon graduation from Lamar High School, Allin served in the US Air Force before attending the University of Texas at Austin. In the mid 1980s, he started a small direct marketing firm that he cultivated into a flourishing business, which he ran for the next 20 years in Houston and Austin, TX. In retirement, he lived in Tucson, AZ before settling down in Kerrville to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Texas hill country for the rest of his life. \r\n \r\nAllin Mitchell is survived by his sons Chris, Chad, and Sean, his daughter J'aime, and his grandchildren Mallory, Blaine, William, Lilly, Matt, Cole, Teel, Mary Caroline, and Eliza. \r\n \r\nThe family is suggesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to The First Tee Organization, a non-profit that helps young people build character, make healthy choices, and learn life-enhancing values so that they may succeed on the golf course, at school, and at home. Donations can be made at http://www.thefirsttee.org/. The family appreciates your sympathies and support.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held 2:30-3:30 on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Smith Family Chapel next to Riverbend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746. Attendees are invited to speak briefly during the memorial to honor and remember Allin.\r\n
