Allete Feather passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020. She was 88 years old. \r\n\r\nA Memorial Service is being held on Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville, TX at 3:00pm which will be live-streamed on Trinity's website at tbck.org. She is buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.\r\n\r\nAllete Feather was born Melba Allete Walker on November 18, 1932, in Willis, Texas. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1951. After graduation, Allete attended Baylor University from 1951-1955. She married George K. Feather on May 30, 1955, following George's graduation from Baylor. They were married for 65 years and had four daughters, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nFollowing their marriage, George entered the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and Allete became an Air Force wife for the next 29 years. She was a wonderful mother to four daughters while supporting her husband's Air Force career as they moved 13 times throughout the United States and Europe over those 29 years. From October 1967 to December 1968, while George was serving in a combat tour in Vietnam, Allete was both mother and father to four daughters, ages 2-11, maintaining home and family during her husband's absence. George always referred to Allete as his "hero."\r\n\r\nThroughout their Air Force career, Allete was an active military wife. During their tour at the Pentagon, she volunteered one day a month at Arlington National Cemetery as an Air Force Arlington Lady, supporting the immediate needs of the families attending the burial of their family member. On two different assignments, Allete served as President of the base Officers Wives Club.\r\n\r\nIn addition to their Air Force responsibilities, the family was active members of a local Baptist Church wherever they lived at the time. At several churches Allete served as the Director of Children's Ministries, President of the women's mission programs, and ladies Bible Study leader. After her husband retired from the Air Force, Allete and George served as volunteer missionaries through the Southern Baptist International Service Corps in Tokyo, Japan from October 1992 to September 1993. There in Tokyo they taught English and Bible Studies, with Allete teaching several ladies and children's classes.\r\n\r\nAllete will always be remembered as a committed Christian, supportive Air Force wife, loving mother of four wonderful daughters, and the family hero.\r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by her daughter Deby Evans.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her husband, Colonel George K. Feather; daughters, Donna Hinton and husband Jesse of Mountain Home, Texas, Darlene West and husband Greg of Battleground, Washington, Deanna Lashley and husband Todd of Lorena, Texas, Wes Evans of Waco, Texas, (husband of the late Deby Evans), seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.\r\n
