Alice Parman Batley Earle was born September 8, 1928 to Hugh and Leora Parman at Nara Visa, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents. Alice Earle died Monday, June 20, 2016 at home on Upper Turtle Creek, Kerrville, TX. Alice was designated "Doodle Bug" by her dad when she was born and the name stuck. She was Doodle to her 9 brothers and sisters and Aunt Doodle to her many nieces and nephews and considered by some their second mom.\r\n \r\nShe was a dedicated homemaker. Her pride and joy was to keep a welcoming loving home for her family and many friends. Alice was an excellent seamstress, making everything from formal dresses to costumes of all kinds. She also made each of her daughters' wedding dresses. She was an active member of Turtle Creek Sewing Circle.\r\n \r\nShe was an avid reader and her appreciation for books and research was passed on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.\r\n \r\nShe taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, TX and First United Methodist Church in Kerrville for many years. She was always active as room mother when her children were in school. When the schools were integrated in Kerrville in 1963, she took an active role in the process as a crosswalk safety guard for walking the children to and from school.\r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years and the father of her children, Glenn Batley of Kerrville, TX; her second husband, Kenneth Earle of Amistad NM; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.\r\n \r\nAlice is survived by her daughter, Glenna Kelley of Kerrville, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Rik and Diana Batley; her daughter, Teri Valentine of Kerrville, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Troy Lamb of Mosquero, NM; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.\r\n \r\nServices will be held Friday, June 24, 2016, 11 AM at First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Turtle Creek Cemetery.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be grandsons, Barrett Kelley, Jason Batley, Ryan Batley, Leaman Valentine, Chris Valentine and Will Lamb.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Kerrville or Kerr Arts and Cultural Center of Kerrville.\r\n
