There is a new 'Trail Boss' in Heaven! Aime Frank Real, 86, of Kerrville, passed away peacefully on January 27th in his home on the Real Ranch. He was born on February 1, 1928 on his family ranch in Kerrville to Aime Walter & Johanna Flach Real who were descendants of the early settlers. He married Elizabeth Holm on May 23, 1977 in the St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He graduated from Tivy High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College. He has been a lifelong rancher on the Real Ranch and was the first to introduce his beloved Southdown sheep to our area. People came from all around to buy his show lambs at his yearly auction. He was also well known for his famous registered Paint Horses and ran a successful hunting operation for over 50 overs. He and his wife Liz, cooked many gourmet meals including his infamous homemade rolls. One of his favorite things was being the 'Tejas Vaqueros Trail Boss' and honorary member since 1967. Throughout the years he was president of Jaycees, Federal Land Bank, American Southdown Breeders Association, Farm Bureau, the Kerr County Live Stock Show and instrumental in building the first Kerr County Ag Barn.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Holm Real; his sister Bertha Priour; his children Gary Real; Louie Real and wife, Dee Dee; Aime Real; daughter Rhonda Harden husband, Tony; step children Robert Ott wife, Paige; John Ott wife, Lori; and loving grandchildren Trey (Hailey), Chelsea, R.J., Cassi (Kevin), Ridley, Kelsey (Ben), Krystin, Colby, Daniel, Amber, great grandchild Brooke and many other close family members and friends. \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 30th at Grimes Funeral Chapels. \r\n\r\nA celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31st at St. Peter's Episcopal Church followed by graveside services at the Aime Real Ranch Cemetery. \r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Scott Kirkpatrick, Trey and Shawn Fisher, Robert Real, Travis Thorne and Thomas Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Fisher, Pat Scherrieb, Jay Grant, Don and Jimmy Priour, Charlie Dobbs, Jay Holms and the Tejas Vequeros.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hill Country Youth Exhibition Center at 3705 Highway 27, Kerrville, TX 78028, (830) 257-7939.\r\n \r\nA very special thank you to Becky Afshari and Jordan and the Alamo Hospice for the tender loving care they took of Mr. Real during his final days.
