A.C. Ernst

A.C. Ernst, age 78 of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 in a local care center.\r\n \r\nHe was born in the Keidel Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas on May 22, 1938 to Clarence and Edna Fiddler Ernst. He was raised on a ranch in Harper, Texas and graduated from Harper High School in 1956. \r\n \r\nA.C. joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956. He served on the Anewetok Atol during the original atomic bomb test in the Pacific Ocean. \r\n \r\nA.C. married Nita Fay Chenault on November 24, 1961. They were blessed with the birth of a son, Dale Mitchell Ernst on October 17, 1962. He was employed by the City of Kerrville as Purchasing Officer and Safety Officer for over 30 years. In addition, A.C. was a lifelong rancher with his brother, C.J. (Butch) Ernst and son, Dale Ernst on the family ranch in Gillespie County and a ranch in Sutton County.\r\n \r\nA.C. was a lifelong, faithful member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Petri.\r\n \r\nSurvivors include wife, Nita Ernst of Kerrville; son, Dale Ernst and wife, Derenda of Sonora; sister, Shirley Van Cleve and husband, Roger of Harper; brother, Butch Ernst of Ft. McKavett, TX; grandchildren, Ethan Jacobs and wife, Hadeline of Tennessee, Izac Jacobs of Sonora, and Alexandra Scates and husband, James of Tennessee; great grandchild, Jaxon Jacobs; and numerous nieces and nephews. \r\n \r\nAt A.C.'s request, there will be no visitation and the funeral will be a closed, private family service.\r\n
